Margaret To
Co-founder // Creative Director
I'm a designer, animator and director based in Kizh, Chumash, and Tataviam territory (Greater Los Angeles). My passion lies at the intersection of art, interactive media, and climate activism. My work has been featured at the Getty Center, LA County Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb, and more. I co-founded Studio SAKA to dedicate my creative skills towards amplifying social and environmental initiatives in LA communities and beyond. I'm also the Chapter Co-Lead for Climate Designers LA, a community of creatives fighting for climate action.
Eldon Arena
Co-founder // Cinematographer
I started my filmmaking journey as a cinematographer back in 2013 in the wedding industry. I have shot 500+ events across the U.S. I have extensive knowledge in Cinema Cameras (RED, Sony, and Canon), and am a drone + FPV pilot. My goal is to continue using my filmmaking expertise to tell meaningful stories around the world.
What does SAKA mean?
SAKA came from the word magsasaka, which means farmer in Tagalog. We are inspired by the hard work of a farmer, and see the parallel between farmers' work and our creative process. A farmer plants seeds and nurtures them into food that feeds our bodies; a creative idea always starts small as a seed, and gradually grows and flourishes into stories that feed our minds and impact the world.
